2010 Phi Alpha Delta Charity Auction Raises over $11,000 for Local Charities

On Thursday, February 18th, students at the Washington and Lee School of raised over $11,500 during the 2010 Phi Alpha Delta (PAD) charity auction. The last five auctions together have raised over $60,000 for local charities.

Every year PAD members choose a worthy local charity to benefit from the auction. The proceeds from this year's auction will be split amongst several organizations, including Rockbridge Hospice, Meals for Shut-ins, and Project Horizon, a local shelter that provides services to victims of domestic abuse. Some of the auction proceeds will also go to fund public interest scholarships for W&L law students.

During the PAD auction, students and others bid on donations from Law School faculty, staff and students, the most popular items being dinners and leisure activities with Professors. Some of the items auctioned this year included:

Phi Alpha Delta is a service fraternity that works for the law school and local communities and sponsors many charity events including the auction, a canned food drive, and a blood drive. PAD holds membership drives in both the fall and spring semesters.
