On Thursday, October 25, students at the Washington and Lee School of Law once again showed their generosity, raising over $10,000 during the 2007 Phi Alpha Delta (PAD) charity auction. The last three auctions together have raised over $41,000 for local charities.
Auction organizers noted that the decision concerning where to direct funds is never easy because there are so many worthwhile organizations in the area. However, PAD members ultimately decided to donate proceeds from this year's auction to the Lexington - Rockbridge Christmas Basket program, which provides local children with Christmas presents and local families with staple pantry items.
During the auction, students bid on free dinners, trips, and other items donated by law school faculty and staff. Some of the items students bid over this year included:
Phi Alpha Delta is a service fraternity that works for the law school and local communities and sponsors many charity events including the auction, a canned food drive, and a blood drive. PAD holds membership drives in both the fall and spring semesters.Email This Page
