Sarah Hughes

Sarah Nichols Hughes has been named the Assistant Director for Advancement at the Washington and Lee University School of Law, beginning August 1.  In her new position, Hughes will focus on the School of Law's Annual Fund. She replaces Elizabeth Outland Branner, who recently was promoted to the new position of Associate Director for Advancement.
For the last four years, Hughes has served as the W&L School of Law's Assistant Director of Admissions.  In that position, she marketed the School via direct mail, online communications, through law school fairs, on-campus open houses, and by counseling and interviewing hundreds of prospective students.
Hughes earned a B.A. in psychology from Presbyterian College in 1998 and a Master of Education in higher education administration from the University of South Carolina in 2002.  Prior to coming to the School of Law, she was the Coordinator of Greek Life at Winthrop University.  She held a similar position as a graduate student at the University of South Carolina.  Hughes also has been an admissions counselor at Presbyterian College.
Hughes lives in Lexington with her husband Sy, assistant director of development at Virginia Military Institute, and their dog, Ernie.
