Washington and Lee University School of Law in Lexington, Virginia, USA, is again offering a fellowship for one qualified German LL.M. student.
The generous financial aid package is funded by both W&L Law and DAAD, the German Academic Exchange Service. The package includes:
- $10,000 tuition scholarship [provided by W&L]
- employment as a research assistant [provided by W&L]
- €18,000 tuition scholarship [provided by DAAD – if DAAD application approved]
- € 975/month (nine months) living-costs stipend [provided by DAAD – if DAAD application approved]
- airfare [provided by DAAD – if DAAD application approved]
- health insurance costs [provided by DAAD – if DAAD application approved].

The research assistantship will require the student to work closely with W&L law professor Russell Miller in three distinct capacities. First, the selected student will serve as managing editor of the German Law Journal. The student will assist with all facets of the monthly production of the successful, online transnational law journal, co-founded by Prof. Miller. Second, the student will serve as a teaching assistant in the German Law Journal seminar. Third, the student will be responsible for assisting Prof. Miller with research on other comparative law related projects.

Potential applicants should review the W&L LL.M. website and complete all application materials identified there. Please note that the March 1st deadline for applying has been extended to 15 April 2011 in this case.
Applicants for the W&L portions of the fellowship award should send a C.V. and letter of interest and qualification (not more than 1,500 words), and the names and contact information for two references by email to Prof. Russell Miller (email@example.com) no later than 1 March 2011.
Applicants for the DAAD portions of the fellowship must be made separately and in conformity with DAAD's application procedures, including the 31 March 2010 deadline. Applications to the DAAD should clearly indicate interest in the W&L/GLJ fellowship.
