On Saturday, May 6, the School of Law will host a celebration of the life of Roger D. Groot, longtime faculty member and Class of 1975 Alumni Professor of Law who passed away in November 2005.
The celebration will begin at 11:30 a.m. in Lewis Hall with the unveiling of a portrait of Professor Groot, funded by the class of 1975, that will hang in the Millhiser Moot Courtroom when the renovation of that space is complete. In addition, the class of 1981 will officially announce the naming of the Jury Room in Groot’s honor as part of their 25th reunion gift. Also, we will have tributes from members of the alumni body, and Tom Gearen 82L, will provide a progress report on fundraising efforts for a Groot professorship.
Following these announcements, law alumni are invited to attend a barbecue picnic and bluegrass concert on the Lewis Hall lawn from 12:00 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. Entertainment will be provided by the bluegrass group Greenhouse.
