Journal of Energy, Climate, and the Environment | Welcome
The Washington and Lee School of Law Journal of Energy, Climate, and the Environment is an academic journal dedicated to engaging legal scholars, practitioners, and policy-makers on energy, environmental, and climate change issues through our bi-annual publications and symposia. Each issue contains articles, notes, and comments by scholars and student staff writers. Recent articles have covered issues pertaining to the regulation of mining and mining waste in Europe, patent rights to green technology proliferation, and the regulation of nuclear energy and waste. Each year, the Journal hosts a Fall Panel and a Spring Symposium to address current and exciting developments in energy, environmental, and climate related law. The Journal’s faculty advisers are Professor Mark A. Drumbl, Professor Joan M. Shaughnessy, and Professor Albert V. Carr.
Journal membership is open to all Washington and Lee University School of Law students who demonstrate exceptional skill in legal writing and analysis through a highly competitive and rigorous write-on competition. By becoming involved in the publication process, Journal members enhance their leadership, interpersonal, organization, analytic, research and writing skills. We promote early leadership opportunities and increased responsibilities for our staff writers to ensure continuity of operations.
The Journal publishes a print and digital edition bi-annually. Print editions are available with a subscription or by contacting the Journal. Our published content is also currently available on Bloomberg Law, Google Scholar, and the Washington & Lee University School of Law Scholarly Commons. We have license agreements with Westlaw, LexisNexis, Hein Online, and EBSCO Host and expect to be available on these services in the near future.
We are also committed to modernizing the traditional law journal format.
