Burks Scholars Writing Fellow
The Burks Scholar Writing Fellow is available by appointment and holds regularly scheduled office hours. The Writing Fellow works with students on an individual and a group basis to hone legal writing skills. Upon request, the Writing Fellow conducts programming tailored to the issue of the professor.
Boris Bindman is from Oakland, CA. After graduating from UCLA with a B.A. in Politics, Boris participated in a fellowship with The Organizing and Leadership Academy, an Oakland-based organization focused on grassroots organizing and the development of political strategy for various types of campaigns. During his 1L summer Boris worked at the Law Offices of Robert J. Bezemek, a labor law firm in Oakland, CA that specializes in representing teacher unions. He returned to the Bay Area to work for the Law Office of Adam G. Gasner his 2L summer where he is doing criminal defense work. After graduating from W&L, Boris hopes to work at the San Francisco Public Defender's Office.
In addition to his role as a Burks Writing Fellow, Boris is a Lead Online Editor for the Washington and Lee Law Review, a research assistant for Professors Joshua Fairfield and Kish Parella, and participates in the Criminal Justice Clinic. He enjoys playing tennis, guitar, and long walks on the beach with his two pitbulls.
